Hi, I’m Aneta
I am the woman behind the graphics work and the sustainable brand ADVA. Born in a tiny village in the Czech Republic, I grew up reading books, playing dress-ups with my sister and drawing collections of dresses I would one day wear. During High school, I forgot about my dream of becoming a fashion designer. I spent most of my time creating banners and avatars for online forums (yes, in those days we were part of those) in my room, long after lights out. I remember my father asking me what I was doing on the computer all the time. In my last year of High School, I travelled to New York City to study English. I spent six incredible months there, met some amazing people (few of those still my friends), learned to be independent and to stand up for myself.
When I came back, I graduated but had no real idea of what I wanted to do. I got accepted to college to study Security Management and moved to Prague. Since then I had a few internships and worked for several companies, but nothing quite stuck with me though. In my second year, I somehow returned to drawing. I did a couple of sewing and designing courses. A year later, I got an amazing internship with a fashion brand in Prague and started to realise my dreams.
In 2015 I moved to London, and everything changed after that. I finished my Masters Degree (this time in Marketing), did a couple of fashion internships and rediscovered my passion in both sustainable fashion design and graphics and visual design. I never really took the traditional path in life, so first I’ve founded ADVA in early 2017. Slowly and patiently growing my business, I realised that each day I was more and more passionate about graphic design as well. Thanks to my friends I landed a few amazing clients, and I’ve been able to do what I love since then. Combing my dream (ADVA) with my other passion (graphic design) has been amazing, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
More to know about me. I am a Gemini – maybe that is why I cannot do only one thing. Yes, really. I love reading books and what I most love are used books – because you never know what is the story behind, right. I love coffee. I live sustainably (I try to live sustainably as much as I can) – if there is no farmer’s market around, I won’t be around either. I love cooking, and I started to make chocolate truffles thank you Paul A. Young for this new obsession. What I most value? The power of nature.
